Good News

It's been a long time since I posted in this blog. If you are not checking my other blogs, I want to update you of what is going on with me and my family. After our two months vacation in the Philippines, two weeks after we got back we found out that we are expecting again. Yes I am pregnant to our second child and we are hoping a girl this time. I am having a hard time during this pregnancy, I'm talking about having morning sickness. I puked almost everyday day and night. Last Thursday we finally got done with our first obgyn appointment. The doctor confirmed that I am indeed pregnant and I am healthy and so as the baby. We heard the baby's heart beat for the first time. I am too excited to hear that heart beat and hearing it that day was amazing. I love being pregnant except the part of having morning sickness lol. My son who is turning three on October is excited about the idea of having a baby sister. He talks about he will play with her and share his cars and he will be "kuya" ( big brother) JJ. At night he kiss my belly and say goodnight baby. As a Mom I love hearing it from my son as if he understood what is really going on. I know we are blessed to have such a good and smart boy. We are hoping this one will be as good as him.

One Month In Laguna

Yes we will spend the rest of our vacation here in Laguna because of my passport. I have to wait till they issue my new passport before we can go to our province to see the rest of our family. My father and my two siblings are excited to see my son. Unfortunately they have to wait till end of this month. My son is having a good time here while me I'm gaining weight and getting darker each day. It is very warm here and me and my son sweats a lot. Despite of sweating I'm still gaining weight instead of losing it lol. Oh well I will just have to spend time in treadmill when I get back home. Got to go now. I will upload pictures when I get home next month. Thank you all for your visit.

Trip to Tagaytay

We had our trip to Tagaytay last weekend. I thought it would be a cooler weather there but that day it was warm. It was humid and windy at the same time. The Picnic Groove improved! They added a cable and a sliding thing that a person can get into and slide to the other side. It was kind a scary but thrilling. I took so many pictures but I don't have it now so I can share it with you yet. My son enjoyed the place and his waling escapade. What funny is that I became a photographer, which means I don't have many pictures of myself. Till then I will post more and upload some pics next time.

Another Cloudy Day

Today is another cloudy day for us here in Austin. I can't complained much specially what happened last night. I would rather have a cloudy day that to have another tornado watch. Last night around 6-6:30 PM it started to get windy and it hailed here. I was scared because it sounded like someone is throwing stone on our windows. That was the first time we had that much hail and I saw it on the ground. The green grass was covered with quarter size hail. Compared to other places here in Austin it wasn't that bad where we live. Some part of Austin had a tennis ball size of hail, which pretty scary for some, specially for those who was in the middle of the road driving. They showed on the news that some left their cars in the middle of the road and ran to get covered. Some windows of cars were broken due to hard impact of tennis ball size of hail. Thankfully there is no report of people got hurt.

My son got scared when it started to hail. I laughed that he reacted but I know it was not a good joke for him. He was pretty scared that he didn't know where to go. He was screaming "Mommy!" and when I held him he was shaking and I felt his heart beat was fast, which means he was nervous that time. He didnt' stopped screaming until I sat with him and he was holding me. My poor baby boy.

Vacation Update

This coming Sunday is the day that we are leaving. It is the big day! For four years I will finally see my family again. It will be my son's first long trip. When I said long I mean it is a 20 hours long trip. We have to leave very early that day, which means we need to go to bed early as well. I'm hoping my son will do good on a plane like he was when we went to visit my in-laws. I will try to do more blogging while I am there. I know it will not be easy for a fact because I don't have my laptop with me. I will not going to bring it with me because I don't want to carry a lot of things with me. You know how hard it is to travel with a kid. I'm just hoping that my son will behave the same way he did the last time.

Vacation with My Son

It is been a while since my last post here. Before I post anything, I want to thank you all who dropped by and left comments to congratulate me for having a PR 2. I still cannot believed that this blog got PR. Thank you all for your support and daily visit here. Okay now that is done I just want to inform some of you who do not know yet that me and my son are going to Philippines to visit my family there. It will be his first time and I cannot wait for him to meet my family. My parents are excited their first grandchild. We are leaving on March 29th. I will share our trip and adventure in the Philippines. Also I will post some pictures.

As you all know traveling takes a lot of time to plan and do what we need to be done before we get on board that airplane. This coming Friday we are going to visit my son's Doctor to check what shot/s he needs to get before we go to Philippines. We already got his passport and our plane tickets. What left for us to be done is to pack and get his shot/s.

You all know that infants and toddlers needs to be on their car seat not just in the car but also in airplane. I did my research online to see if there is another thing I can use besides carrying a big bulky car seat. It will be hard for me to carry my son's car seat because I am small. Thankfully I found CARES. It is a belt and buckle device for kids who weighs 22-44 pounds that is easy to use and creates a safe airplane seat for our child without the hassle of carrying a 20 pound car seat. Plus it is the first and only Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved harness-style child safety device for kids. It is easy to use and carry because it only weighs 1 pound. Isn't it good news for us parents? If you want to learn more about this product you can check it out here.

7 Reasons Not to Mess with Children

It's been a long time since I posted my last post here. Here you go peeps I have new topic to post. I got these once again from my mother-in-law and I think these one is pretty neat to share. Kids are adorable and hard to figure out what they think or will going to say next. Enjoy these one.

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.

The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'

The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.'

The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.'

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.
After explaining the commandment to 'honour' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?'
Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?'
Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.'
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?'

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.
'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'
'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'
A little fellow shouted,
'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:
'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.
A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples.'

Salmonella on Peanut Butter

Please beware of peanut butter. If you have been using peanut butter you better avoid and stop using it for your own safety and for your kids safety. Salmonella strikes again and this time you can get it from peanut butter. Most of products that has peanut butter to it had been recalled. Some of this products are peanut butter crackers, peanut butter paste and most likely products that contain peanut butter. There have been deaths reported because of salmonella. Please read here for that full report.

My hubby stop using peanut butter last Tuesday because he felt some pain on his stomach. He had diarrhea and a sharp pain on his stomach. He likes using peanut butter to make his favorite shake but he finally stopped using it. So parents please be cautious. It is better to be safe than sorry.

My Crazy Son and his Silly Ideas

One day when you think there is nothing or no one will make your day. Think again! You all know that I have a two year old son. If you are a Mom I bet you know what our kids can do or will do when they are silent. One day when I thought my son is behaving himself because I didn't heard him. I went to look for him because I was in our room that time. I went to our living room and there he is. All smiling at me at first I didn't noticed what he is smiling about until I looked down and saw what he got or should I say what he did. Oh my he cracked me up. I saw his dvd covers on his legs. He made it as his boots lol. I asked him how he done it? I mean I don't know how he managed to put those dvd covers on his legs. He just laughed at me and said "Mommy shoes"! I laughed so hard I almost peed. I took pictures of him for another souvenir of his funny ideas. Enjoy the pictures friends!

What Love Means

I got this email from one of my friends. I think it is pretty interesting to learn/know what kids think about love and what is love means to them. Find out below what their answers because it is deeper than you think it is.

What Love means to a 4-8 year old . . .

Touching words from the mouth of kids.
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think.

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.' Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.' Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.' Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.' Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.' Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.' Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss' Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.' Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,' Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.' Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.' Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.' Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody
You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.' Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.' Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.' Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.' Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.' Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image) Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.' Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.' Jessica - age 8

And the final one

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

Is that touching or what? Kids learn a lot and observed a lot what is going on their surroundings, so we need to be a role model for them.

Finger Foods

We all know that our kids love to use their hands. What kid doesn't love to eat with their hands? Try this simple recipes and give them a break from using utensils. Serve them this easy, yummy bites for dinner. Try something new for your kids to learn and maybe like it. Enjoy preparing your dinner for tonight!

Grilled Pineapple and Shrimp

Cut 8 peeled and deveined uncooked shrimp in half lengthwise and toss with 1 tsp. olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place shrimp halves and 16 pieces of fresh pineapple in a grill pan coated with vegetable cooking spray on medium-high heat. Grill until shrimp turn opaque, 2 to 3 minutes, turning once. Vitamin D Update

Children of all ages should get 400 IU of vitamin D daily. This is according to updated guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics. That's double the previous recommendation. Vitamin D will help kids develop strong bones and prevents rickets, and recent research has linked greater intakes with lower rates of diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and breast cancer in adults.

Breastfed babies including those who drank a quart of formula a day should start vitamin D drops in the first few days of life and take them for the first year. It takes four 8-ounce glasses of milk to get the full 400 IU, so even older kids who love milk will have a hard time getting enough vitamin D from it and from other fortified foods such as orange juice and cereal. They should take a daily multivitamin.

Good Eat

Q. Getting kids to eat clean is a big problem. How does one solve this situation?

A. You may never solve it completely, but you start by example. Then only buy the wholesome foods you, yourself, eat. Don't have white flour, sugar, bacon, soda, butter, chocolate and candy in the house. There are healthy substitutes for these. Just put one egg yolk in an egg white omelet and only stock cereals that are sugar-free and whole grain.
If you find your kids spending money on candy and french fries, tell them their allowance will be suspended, and confirm that you are only doing it for their good.
The problem is when they are at school or college and you can't supervise their eating habits. You have no control over what they eat and drink at college. Hopefully your positive influence will kick in once they're away from home.
